So, you don’t want bagged tea, but you do want to enjoy your fine whole and broken leaf teas while on the go. You work in one of those offices where the break room has most of what you need: cups, a way to heat water, a frig for your milk (if needed), and even a variety of sweeteners. There’s just one hang up. You need a way to steep loose leaf tea without a messy infuser to have to clean. Tea filters that you can fill with the teas of your choice are a natural solution here.

Tea filters come in a variety of shapes and sizes, but the wide-mouthed drawstring tea filter can take the mess out of your tea time, allowing you to enjoy your fine loose teas at home, at work, or on the go. They are as simple to use as 1-2-3.

1 — Select a Tea (this could be the trickiest part)

A broken leaf, versus a whole leaf, tea would probably be better when using these filters. For one thing, they will be more easily “loaded” into the filter. For another, they will more readily take up the water and give out their oils and other special ingredients. I’m quite partial to teas like Scottish Breakfast and CTC Assam, both of which would work great in these filters, but even some nice White Monkey Paw Green Tea or Formosa Oolong Estate Tea would do well here.

2 — Spoon Some Tea Leaves into a Filter

How much you use here will depend on which type of tea you are using and if you are wanting multiple infusions. It will also vary depending on the size of cup you are using. One great feature of these filters is the wide top that makes filling easier. Another is the little drawstring that keeps those tea leaves in the bag, not in the cup, as they steep.

3 — Immerse the Tea-filled Filter into the Hot Water

I would usually bring my own cup with me whenever working what us contractor/freelancers call “on-site.” It assured that I had a really big cup and that it would be reasonably clean. Such habits die hard, so I still find myself using a particular cup even here at home. You may find yourself doing the same, wherever you take tea. These filters can fit both large and small cups, so no need to worry about either being the wrong size.

Since these Drawstring Tea Filters are made from wood pulp and heat sealing fiber, they are biodegradable. Good news for you composters out there.
