Review: As the weather gets colder the need for warming beverages increases. But since true tea always contains caffeine, it may not be the best thing to drink at night. That’s when Rooibos comes to the rescue!

Rooibos is a South African herb with a honey-sweet taste and a beautiful red-gold color. It is naturally caffeine free and low in tannin, making it an ideal nighttime beverage.

Vanilla and other warm spices are a natural match for rooibos, and this tisane is a good example of how well these flavors mesh together. This isn’t a very complicated tisane, almond, cinnamon, and vanilla dominate the blend, but they work well together. In fact, when very hot, this tisane reminds me a bit of a liqueur (except, of course, that it is alcohol free).

Try this with a bit of milk or cream for added richness. While I find this tisane to be sweet enough on its own, you may also want to try adding some sugar or honey to create a lovely dessert beverage. Almond lovers: A few teaspoons of almond milk in this tisane will rock your socks!
